October 2021
How long have you been working at PI Services?
I started working at PI Services in January 2018 as part of a work-study programme during my first year of a Master’s degree in Systems and Network Administration.
How did you join the company?
I was looking for a company to take me on for my work-study programme, so I sent in a speculative application. That same day, I got a response and was invited for a first interview with the Managing Director. I then had two more interviews, with the Operations Director and the Head of Managed Services, after which I was offered the position!
What role did you have at the time?
I was on a work-study contract while completing my Master’s 1 & 2 in Systems and Network Administration, followed by a specialisation in Information Systems and Cybersecurity.
At first, I worked on operational support and client ticket management within the Managed Services team. Later on, I began receiving project-based training and eventually became fully autonomous.
And today?
In March 2021, I completed my studies and officially took on the role of Systems and Network Engineer within the company!
I currently work for a client in their infrastructure projects team. I’m responsible for the systems side and for handling requests to improve their infrastructure. This includes automating tasks using scripts, assessing the integration of new services (such as SaaS applications with single sign-on), and implementing new technical solutions. I also handle Level 3 support for their mobile fleet (MDM – Mobile Device Management).
Can you tell us a bit more about yourself and your background?
Before joining PI Services, I had just completed a two-year technical degree (BTS) in Digital Systems with a focus on Systems and Networks, during which I completed a few weeks of internship.
I owe most of my current experience to the training I received at PI Services, thanks to the support and technical expertise of the teams and my managers.
It’s now been three and a half years since you joined PI Services – how has the experience been?
It’s been a great experience, especially thanks to the very warm welcome from my colleagues!
There’s a strong sense of teamwork and I’ve had regular support from engineers and consultants. The atmosphere is friendly and there’s a real effort to maintain team cohesion. We often meet up for technical meetings, which are usually followed by a meal to share a friendly moment together.
Even during lockdown, the connection was maintained through weekly video meetings!
And looking ahead, what are your ambitions for the future?
Since I’ve only just started in my role as a Systems and Network Engineer, I want to continue gaining experience and developing new skills across the range of technologies we work with.
My main goal is to strengthen my expertise in my current position and, perhaps later on, move into a consultancy role.
Anything you’d like to add?
I’d like to thank PI Services for helping me enter the world of work and for the trust they place in me every day through the missions I’m given. I really appreciate the variety of projects and the friendly atmosphere!
